The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be staged from 4 to 15 April 2018. At GC2018, 71 Commonwealth counties will compete across a range of sporting events on the Gold Coast, and in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. A state-wide arts and Culture program is also being planned. GC2018 is the largest event in Queensland over the next decade with a budget of approximately $2 billion, which will largely be utilised for procurement from now until 2018. The event will require goods and services from many industries and Government aims to leverage GC2018 to derive economic benefits and develop local business and workforce capability. Planning is happening now and to assist business to prepare for opportunities, a forward procurement plan, forward procurement schedule and business development framework have been released.
