Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be staged from 4 to 15 April 2018. At GC2018, 71 Commonwealth counties will compete across a range of sporting events on the Gold Coast, and in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. A state-wide arts and Culture program is also being planned. GC2018 is the largest event in Queensland over the next decade with a budget of approximately $2 billion, which will largely be utilised for procurement from now until 2018. The event will require goods and services from many industries and Government aims to leverage GC2018 to derive economic benefits and develop local business and workforce capability. Planning is happening now and to assist business to prepare for opportunities, a forward procurement plan, forward procurement schedule and business development framework have been released. Mike Goodman from the Office of Commonwealth Games Coordination will discuss GC2018 opportunities for business and how you can get involved.

      Townsville City Council

      Deputy Mayor Vern Veitch will present on the Townsville City Council 2014/2015 budget outlining the capital works projects and discuss future major project opportunities for the region, such as the $190.4 million capital works program and $106.5 million maintenance services program which will focus on roads, water, sewerage and community infrastructure and provide a major stimulus for the local economy. Cr. Veitch will be providing an informed overview of the business potential for local suppliers and contractors.
